Today (17 Sep 2024) although the overall level of the Mekong River in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province is gradually decreasing, what the people of Phon Phisai District are currently facing is water from Huai Luang Dam, Udon Thani Province, flowing in to refill it but unable to open the water gates. They cannot use the method of pumping the water out because the machine is broken. Villagers have questioned the Royal Irrigation Department about management and preparation for the flood season.
